How many pairs of shoes are in your rotation?

How many shoes do you cycle through in your current training regiment? What are you currently training for and how is your rotation helping you get there?

I'm training for a marathon right now.
I'm currently cycling through 4 pairs!
Brooks Launch 7: My daily tempo/maintenance shoes. Intervals as well.
Hoka Rincon: Recovery and long runs.
Hoka Carbon X: Long runs, Threshold, Race!
Brooks Cascadia 14: For when I mix it up and get off the road.

I'm training for an ultramarathon (100km) if it happens, my current shoe rotation is ridiculous. I have more shoes than my wife, and she gives me a hard time about it...my shoe rotation looks like:

Long Easy Runs on Road - NB 860v10, or NB Beacon v3
Long Easy Runs on trail - NB Hierro v2 or v5 for less technical, and Salomon Sense Ride or Speedcross for more technical.
Recovery/Absorption runs - Salomon RA1 or RA2 or NB 860v10 or Beacons
Tempo Runs - NB Fuelcell Prism, or NB 890v8
Intervals/speed sessions - NB 1500v5 or NB Fuelcell Prism and Fuelcell TC if I'm looking for some pop.
Race day (Road) - NB Fuelcell TC
Race day (Trails) - Salomon Speedcross

I'm trying not to buy any more shoes...but I run heaps, so they need to be renewed right?!

I like to stay in the 10K-Half Marathon range year round but I do run at least 1 marathon a year and I will cycle in a month or 2 of speed work on the track including mile PR attempts and even throwing on some spikes.

My current rotation though is:

Speed & Interval : Endorphin Speed
Daily Trainer & Recovery Day : Clifton 6 & 7
Trail: Torrent 2

I also do treadmill work in the winter time and I will probably use the Razor 3's or Hyperion Tempo's. Historically in the past I have worn Kinvara's for treadmill runs.

I'm currently in "maintenance" running mode, no races set in mind, but need my legs to be in shape should I decide to train for a half or full marathon. Two pairs of Brooks Ghost 11 in rotation for all workouts, including tempos and intervals. One pair has 400+ miles logged, which reminds me to order a new pair (or two) soon. The other 200+ miles. Once in a while I'll do tempos in Brooks Launch.

I used to use the Brooks Ghost 11 for everything. Now I have switched to the Hoka Rincón 1 for almost all my runs: Long (15+), medium(10-15),thresholds. And I’ve got a pair of Reebok Floatride Energy 2s that I use for recovery days(4-6) miles. Just ordered another pair of rincons as well since they’re on sale. Eventually I’ll probably just rotate rincons, since they’re light and cushioned; pretty much good for everything.

For me, Ghosts have worked well since version 2. Tried out all the other brands except Hoka and kept coming back to Ghost, so I just stuck to it. Other shoes I've logged many miles in were the old Nike Lunarglide and Nike Vomero for long runs. Vomero's were nice and cushy. I should give Hoka a chance someday.

I always thought Hokas were gimmicky but they really do save your legs. And for someone like me who is prone to injury they are somewhat of a godsend. The brooks are great too, but Hoka has even more cushioning and significantly lighter, and cheaper actually too lol

For those who wear Hoka, how's your foot width? I've read and heard that the toe box is narrow, but not sure if that's still the case or true only for certain models. My feet are neutral, on the wide side, but width D in Brooks fit perfect.

I have medium-sized feet, but typically prefer a slightly wider toe box as I like my toes to splay when running. But Hoka toe box width varies depending on the model. The Rincon I found to be narrow, but the Stinson ATR feels wide. I recently tried on the Bondi 7 and that has more volume than the 6. I have to say the fit of the Clifton 7 reminds me of the current Glycerin though.

@RW Staff Tyler, thanks for your response. Glad you mentioned Glycerin, if the fit of the current model is near previous models then I have an idea how Clifton 7's toe box would feel.

Currently doing base training.
I switch between Novablast and Skechers Forza 4. If the Hyperslide had a way to lock down my heel, I'd run in that too.
Retired my Gliderides and Peg Turbo in the beginning of summer after injury.

I currently have 2 shoes in my rotation but would like to have 3 soon. Keep in mind one of these will change whether its cross country or track season.
- New Balance 1080v10. This is my daily trainer/long run shoe.
- Saucony Kinvara 11. This is for my faster stuff (tempos, long & short intervals, fartleks, etc).
- Nike Zoom Rival XC. These are my cross country racers.
I hope this helped a little bit!

I am currently running a virtual 200 miler.
I own many pairs, but I am using
-Addidas solar boost (when my Achilles tendonitis kicks in...the higher drop gives relief)
-new balance more v2 (lower drop and super comfortable built) mainly doing all miles in these
-saucony kinvara (light and soft but only a half marathon in until change)
Hope this helps you
Happy running! :)

Training for a marathon. Shoes in rotation are:

Interval/Track: Run Fast Pro, Run Fast, Atreyu
Mid-Distance (< 10 miles): Reebok Panthea
Long-Distance (> 13 miles): Endorphin Speed, NB TC
Easy: NB 1080v10, Novablast
Race: Vaporfly Next % (shorter), Alphafly (half/marathon)

Trail: Peg 37 trail

I like variety and pick up shoes when they are on deep discount, thus why I have 2+ shoes in each category. Honestly, the Endorphin Speed, a fast day shoe (Run Fast Pro or Atreyu), and the Alphafly could probably cover me. In a pinch, Speed and Alphafly. The range that the Speed can cover is pretty impressive. Problem for me is I burn through the outsole at the heel (shoo goo to the rescue).

Daily/Easy: Saucony Ride/Altra Escalante
Daily/Tempo/Long: Saucony Kinvara/Nike Zoom Fly (2 pairs in rotation)
Intervals: NB 1400
Race: Nike Vaporfly
