What kind of trainers would you recommend sprinters to use? At first I had the Nike Zoom Hayward+ 3s, but it didn't even last me a whole season (the sides ripped and started giving me problems with my feet). After that, I went to my local running shoe store and they gave me the Mizuno Wave Elixir 4, probably because of its weight. It seemed fine for the first week, but after that, the rubbers on the bottom started to peel off. At the end of the month, a huge chunk of rubber ripped off on both the left and right shoe and the sides were started to rip a bit. By then, I just didn't like the shoes at all. My feet were hurting horribly, and I was getting occasional knee pain. The bottom wore out so much that I could 'feel' the track under me and the impact of force when my foot hit the ground.
So now, I'm looking for a new trainer to use. Ideally, I want something lightweight again, but a bit more cushioned than the Hayward and the Elixir was. I need something that can handle a lot of force and power when I do sprint drills and such, and the Elixir especially couldn't hold up to that. I know that because of the amount of force we put into the ground, trainers that sprinters use won't last as long as the trainers that distance cats use, but I want something that won't start breaking down in the second week.
My foot is a little wide, but I fit into a regular 8.5 shoe for Mizuno. I also have slightly fallen arches, but not so badly that I'm using orthotics. I was either considering the Asics Gel DS Trainer 14, the Brooks Launch, or the Mizuno Wave Rider 12, Wave Nexus 3, or the Wave Inspire 5. Which of these would you recommend? Or any other shoes out there that could be a fit?
