View Full Version : Racing flats for wet roads

I was looking for some recommendations on some racing flats with good traction on wet roads (asphalt, concrete, cobblestone).
I was racing in the rain this weekend and my Lunar racers felt slick. Some of my competitors were running in Saucony A3 and they didn’t complain about traction. It could be all mental because I didn’t run as fast as I wanted to.

Thanks,

Your best bet is likely to be a shoe with a blown rubber forefoot like the Asics Piranha 2 or the Brooks T6. Anything that has a forefoot designed for longer wear will tend to be a harder rubber or plastic material that tends to slip more on wet surfaces.

Keep in mind blown rubber wears very quickly, but is very light and grippy. You probably won't get the miles out of a flat with a blown rubber forefoot.

I can vouch for the Piranha's in the rain.
